Update
O2 UK has advised us of a change to its 2G shutdown schedule. The withdrawal of 2G services will now begin on the 1st December 2025, with work completing over the following days.
This update was issued at short notice and replaces the timeline previously communicated on our status page.
After this is complete, 2G access on the O2 network will no longer be available. Only Vodafone and EE will continue to provide 2G service in the UK. Please ensure your roaming schemes include these networks to maintain fallback coverage.
O2 UK will permanently withdraw 2G service from 21 November 2025. The shutdown will begin at midnight (UTC) and progress across the UK over the following days. Once complete, 2G access on the O2 network will no longer be available.
After this change, only Vodafone and EE will continue to provide 2G service in the UK. Please ensure your roaming schemes include these networks to maintain fallback coverage. Where possible, it is recommended to begin transitioning devices to 4G services to ensure ongoing connectivity.
